Christmas is only a week away. Can anyone fill me in on when that happened? Where did the year go? It seems like just yesterday we were dealing with January’s frigid temperatures. And here January is on our doorstep yet again.
I’m not yet done my Christmas shopping. Truth be told, I only started it two days ago. I went to a large mall since I could pick up several gifts more quickly. I was not prepared for the pain that is shopping at this time of year. The mall and the stores were so hot, I was uncomfortable walking around in my coat but didn’t want to fuss with coat check. The line-ups were insane. Some places, like Indigo, were well organized and they had someone at the start of the line keeping an eye out on the cashiers so whenever one became available, they let the next person in line know. The line-up was long, but it moved quickly. Indigo was the exception, as all of the other stores I went to were disorganized, crowded and difficult to navigate.
From Geeking it to Girlying It Up

I haven’t really felt like blogging the last few days. I’ve been a bit preoccupied trying to get a web site set up for myself. What do you call this? you ask. The new web site isn’t meant to serve as a replacement for this one. This blog is my ‘me’ space, where I can come and write/rant/rave/say whatever I want. The new web site is going to be a way of getting my name out there in search of freelance work. While I could easily use this domain; I think it’s important to keep the two separate.
I have to admit though, I’m feeling a bit inundated with everything that’s out there. I subscribe to a lot of design (both graphic and web) sites through RSS feeds and Twitter. I’m constantly learning about new tips, tutorials and tricks. This week alone, I’ve spent hours playing around in PhotoShop and setting up a contact form in PHP.
I spent the entire evening yesterday after work tweaking and setting up a form I’d found online. I was able to follow the tutorial, but then I wanted to customize it to match the site’s colour scheme. I had fun while working on it but by the end of the night, my shoulders were sore and blogging was pretty much out of the question.
Setting up Bethlehem

Another weekend is upon us and what fantastic plans do I have for my days away from the office? Well, I’ve decided to put my sky diving appointment off until next weekend. You see, tomorrow I am doing something much more exciting: I’m helping my mother put together her nativity village.
Take note, I said village. Not nativity scene. Village.
When I was about 12 or so (which was also when I realized I was different, wonder if there’s any correlation?) my mom decided to have a nativity set up for Christmas. At the time, it was exciting and cute and even kind of cool. We were off to our local Zellers and bought ourselves a few porcelain houses to create a little town around the statues of Jesus and his folks in the barn.
