“Something to ask you”

8 Feb

S and I have gotten back to watching HGTV since we often find that there isn’t anything good to watch on television. We’ve been enjoying this season’s Million Dollar Listing. A few weeks ago, S and I laughed at how neurotic Chad can be.

He had gone to great lengths to prepare a nice dinner for his girlfriend. His mother, who was helping him cook the meal asked him what the special occasion was. “I’m going to pop a question,” he said. When one hears “pop the question,” usually it’s in relation to a marriage proposal.

Being Chad, it didn’t have anything to do with asking his girlfriend’s hand in marriage. The question he wanted to ask his girlfriend? He wanted her to sign a legal document that would give him 50% ownership of her dog. Needless to say, the girlfriend was not impressed and quickly excused herself from the table.

Gig-a-what?

Oh Marigold. Such a sweet woman who’s English (or lack thereof sometimes) just makes her all the more endearing.

The other day she was practically in tears in frustration as it was taking her computer ten minutes to open a file and her boss was barking at her to run some reports. “I cannot work like this!” she said, throwing her hands up in the air.

The Button

29 Dec

A little back story: back in September when S and I went shopping for a winter coat for me, S also bought one for herself. It turned out it was the same as the one I’d gotten.

A few weeks ago, S sent me a message on the BlackBerry letting me know she’d bought a new winter coat. When I asked her why, she said she didn’t like the one she’d bought before.

Forward to yesterday:

Toque Head Redux

30 Oct

The other day, S and I were bantering back and forth over e-mail. We were talking about options for setting up a home network since a colleague of S’s is moving next month and was wondering how to set one up. In the midst of the exchange, S wrote about her latest purchase and that lead to the following:

S: p.s. i bought another toque. yay! :)
Me: To wear around the house? lol :)
S: it has flaps for over the ears! i am very excited about it. and i might actually wear it out of the house. when we go grocery shopping

So there you have it, S’s own words saying she might wear her new toque out of the house.

Upon getting home that day, I got S to model her new toque and I have to say, the flaps make her look adorable in it.

Too bad no one else will ever see it.

Toque Head

The Scene: Our main floor in the house.

The day: Thanksgiving Monday.

I was in the kitchen getting dinner going and S was in the main living area, trying on a toque she recently purchased. “I want to wear a toque!” S announced gleefully.

“Huh?” I asked, wondering what she was going on about. In the almost four years we’ve been together, I’ve seen her wear a toque or other wintery type of hat maybe 3-4 times. Even during the coldest winter days, she’ll refuse to wear a toque or hoodie because she doesn’t want to mess up her hair. “You never wear hats,” I reminded her.

“I know, I just thought I could wear it around the house,” she replied, checking herself out in the mirror.

“Right,” I said.

A few days ago, S told me about a conversation with her co-worker where said co-worker told her she’d look cute in a toque. “So I’m going to buy a few more!” she said happily.

“Will you wear them outside?” I asked.

“Probably not! But I want to buy them!”

And there you have it. Cute as a button, but totally weird.
