Shakin’ It Up
Jun 24th
There I was, tidying up my desk after having cleared a project off of my plate. I’d just come back from lunch and had begun the countdown to the end of the day – and my week. Then, out of nowhere, I began to feel like the floor beneath my feet was shaking. “Am I experiencing vertigo?” I thought.
My cubicle neighbour Terry popped up with a startled look on her face, “did you just feel the building move?”
Yes!” I replied happy to know that I wasn’t the only one who felt it.
Me Has Cookies
Jun 20th
The other day, S made mention of having a slight craving for cookies. Well, the craving returned tonight so guess what I set about doing? Even though it was six o’clock in the evening and we’d both been out all day, I found a recipe online and set about making some cookies.
Here’s the end result:

G20 Shutdown
Jun 10th
Well, it only took weeks of pleading and meetings with the executive team for management to make a decision about staying open during the G20. Early this afternoon, we got an email from the head of HR outlining management’s decision. This is an excerpt of the email:
(Not so) Quick Summary
Jun 8th
I haven’t really felt much like blogging lately. The frustration that has taken over at the office has sapped me of the energy and desire to blog. But, as my in-house HR professional so eloquently reminded me earlier today, “don’t get caught up in things. You have options, you’ll be out of there whereas those people are stuck there. That office is their entire life.”
So, with that in mind, I am trying my best to take each day as it comes. There is a lot of potential for drama, especially with the long-term employees who aren’t too thrilled with change. I’m checking job postings every night and sending my resume off to the ones I think would be a good fit for me. I’ve been through this before, I know that it takes awhile to find the right move.
What else has been happening in the land of Streetcar Chronicles?
S and I decided to tackle the room we’d been using as an office. Calling it an office is being entirely too polite. Essentially, the room was just used as storage. Oh sure, we have the router, modem and printer in there, but we also had boxes from when we moved in that needed to be looked through. Guests to the house probably looked in that room and thought, “wow, these girls are two –steps away from becoming hoarders.”
