SVU Suckage

3 Mar

There’s been a bunch of talk online lately regarding tonight’s episode of Law & Order SVU. Kathy Griffin was guest starring as a militant lesbian activist. What caused the talk was the fact that Griffin and leading lady Mariska Hargitay were going to be sharing a kiss. This kiss.

Then, last week Kathy Griffin tweeted this:

Political Breakfast

1 Mar

Today I had a reminder of what it is I dislike about working in a corporate office: the bullshit politics. Last year, the company I work for introduced this “breakfast with the executives” initiative. Employee surveys showed that people felt that there was a disconnect about what the company’s goals and objectives were. These breakfasts were introduced in an attempt to bridge the gap between what the executive office is implementing and pursuing and what the the rest of us peons know.

The breakfasts are set up such that the groups are less than fifteen people and there’s at least one person from every department in the organization. During these get-togethers, it’s encouraged that those in attendance raise any questions or concerns they have about things happening within the organization and future plans.

I was invited to the breakfast happening this morning. I got up early and made sure that I got to the office for the 8:30 start time.

I didn’t get up until close to nine and started the day off by taking the pup out for her walk. It was pretty slushy out with the mild temperatures melting the snow we got yesterday. The gal pal was not happy with having to wear her booties, especially since they were getting wet in all of the puddles. It was a short walk as she didn’t want to be out there.

Back home, S came up from the basement, just about ready. We talked a bit about how I was feeling and Cynthia’s visit. “Are you sure you don’t want to come?” S asked me.

“Nah, I probably shouldn’t. Besides, I haven’t even showered yet,” I replied. We carried on, I enjoying my coffee and S getting dressed.
