One gay gals' musings and observations while travelling on the streetcar

Sick of this Shit
Feb 2nd
I had a lovely experience on the TTC this afternoon. I was getting on a streetcar on my way home during rush hour. It was a bit tricky since I had a grocery bag full of items I had picked up and I had my backpack that I’d removed off of my shoulder to make it easier to navigate the crowded streetcar.
I flashed my metropass at the driver and then put it in my coat pocket while trying to juggle the two bags in my hands. “Behind the line,” the driver said.
I shifted where I was to get a better vantage point of how full the car was so that I could begin walking through it. That’s when it happened.
Sleeper Hit

Toronto-based Twits have been all a flutter here in the last twenty-four hours. It all started yesterday when Jason Wieler posted this picture on Twitter:

Jason wrote, “Yup, love how my TTC dollars R being spent…” Needless to say, it’s gone viral. News outlets picked up the story and its obvious from the comments left on the stories that there isn’t much surprise amongst the Toronto population about the collector was asleep on the job.
‘Berry on the Streetcar
Nov 19th
I found a Blackberry on the streetcar on my way home tonight. I looked through it and found the owner’s contact info. I called the number on the home screen and it was an office that was closed for the day so I e-mailed the girl at the two e-mail addresses she has set-up on the device.
I am guessing the girl will want to meet up tomorrow to get her phone back. That’s fine, I am home from work tomorrow; but I’m going to ask that she come out to where I’m at since I don’t particularly feel like travelling downtown on my day off.
It’s funny, one of the girl’s e-mail addresses was domain-specific so I checked out the site and saw that it is under construction. I’m guessing by the messages and notes on the phone that she’s a photographer. When we meet, I’ll give her some of my business cards and put a bug in her ear about setting up her web site.
Bones, Manners and a Lovely Lunch
Nov 8th
It was a three day weekend for us since S and I took Friday off. Both of us have a lot of vacation days left that we should use before the end of the year; this weekend was the first in a few long weekends we’ve created for ourselves.
We didn’t have much planned for the day off, or for the weekend for that matter. We were having two of S’s friends over for lunch on Sunday. Estelle and Sandra are two older Jewish ladies that S met at one of her first (professional) jobs. Over the years, they’ve kept in touch by getting together for dinner every so often. The ladies hadn’t yet seen the house so it was decided that the next get together would be at our place. That was on the agenda for Sunday.
Since we hadn’t gotten in to see the Ten Commandments exhibit at the museum a few weeks ago, we decided we’d buy tickets online ahead of time to see the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit. We got the tickets for Friday afternoon since we figured it’d be a quiet day at the museum. The only question mark was whether there would be groups of children there on a school trip. S doesn’t particularly enjoy children, especially when they are in large groups. Before we left the house, I gave her full permission to have the rage if she became annoyed by children. If nothing else, it would make for an interesting blog post.
Low Key Weekend
Oct 19th
Well, this is it; the first blog post written on my new computer. I was going to write about the trouble I went through in actually getting the computer, but I figure I’ll save that for a separate post.
This past weekend was a low-key one for us. We were up early on Saturday since the gal pal had a grooming appointment and S was getting her hair did, too. It was a brisk morning when I took the gal pal out for our walk. It’d been a chilly couple of days leading up to the weekend, so much so that I started putting the gal pal’s t-shirt on her. She doesn’t love having it on, but I think she gets that it keeps her comfortable while outside.
During the gal pal’s groom, S got ready and then left for her own appointment. Not long after, the gal pal was all cleaned up and looking like a little baby. She is adorable to begin with, but after a groom, she looks like a puppy. With the groom done, we walked our friend the groomer good-bye and carried on with our day.
