One Month

15 Feb

One month. That’s how much time is left before God of War III is released. One month tomorrow, it will be available in stores (and online) for purchase.

To taunt us some more, a new trailer was released last week. I would embed it into the post, but you have to sign in to prove you’re 18 since the material is considered “Mature.” Check out the link above and watch the video in HD; trust me, it’s totally worth it. I think it’s safe to say that it will be the game of the year.

I can’t believe the wait time is down to a month. Considering I thought the game was going to be released last year, it’s been a long wait.

There’s a whole whack of promotion material available for this release. Honestly, I don’t really care about extra boxes, posters or whatnot. I just want to have the game in my hot little hands and in my PS3. The demo (and all of the trailers) have shown that it will be an amazing visual experience.

If the blog is a little quiet a month from now, you’ll know why.

Craigslist Virgin

21 Oct

The other day, I decided to sell the video games that I no longer play on Craigslist. I could take the games in to a retailer like EB Games or Best Buy, but they take a crazy amount of money from the sale/trade. With Craigslist, I could set my own price and cut out the middle man as it were. Craigslist had come in handy before, I got rid of my apartment; Franz tickets I couldn’t use and we’ve picked up some furniture on there too. It was as good a place as any to start out

I decided to post Heavenly Sword first to see if there was any interest. I tried several times to play the game, but just couldn’t get into it. The graphics were pretty sweet but the actual game play and the controls were brutal. The fighting sequences were long and drawn out and always involved the same moves. I know the game was widely publicized and acclaimed by gamers, but I didn’t find it to be very much fun.

I should mention that before posting the ad, I ran it by S. I felt a bit bad about selling the games since she had bought most of of them for me. She said she was okay with it since I don’t ever play with them, it didn’t really make sense to keep them collecting dust.

The Arrival of Mr. Drake

2 Oct

I was on Amazon the other day looking for something, I don’t remember what, when I noticed the pre-order option for the new Uncharted video game, Among Thieves. The screen shots from the game looked pretty sweet so I started hopping from site to site looking for more information.

I knew the game was going to be released this month, but I hadn’t paid much attention as I knew I’d just rent it or wait for the price to be lowered before buying it. Then I saw this:

Clunker

That’s what my computer has become. I thought the system restore I did two weeks ago did the trick but upon starting it up last night I was greeted with the same DOS-like screen telling me about a corrupt system file.

If the system files are still corrupt after a complete wipe, I’m taking that as a sign that the computer is done for.

I’ll be calling Dell today, see what they have on offer these days. I looked around their site last night and saw a few laptops with 4GB of RAM and a 350GB hard drive. To that I say, Holy Shit! I’ve been scrambling with 2GB of RAM and an 80GB hard drive for a while now. I’ve only had about 10GB of free space for over a year now. Over 300GB on a hard drive would be pretty sweet.

I’m getting ahead of myself here, I haven’t even called Dell yet. Who knows what I’ll end up getting. What I will be insisting on is the option to upgrade to Windows 7 as Vista equals poop.

Things will be quiet around here for awhile.

Quick Nooner

18 Sep

A quick post before I run out to run errands on my lunch.

The repair place I e-mailed on Sunday never got back to me. The e-mail didn’t bounce back to me so I’m not sure what their deal is. Regardless, they lost out on some business. Tried as I might, I couldn’t find the last place I took a computer in for repairs to. I think perhaps they went out of business.
