Today’s been a great Sunday. What’s made it so great? A fantastic outing with friends. S and I had brunch plans with P, K, Christine and T. K and P came in from the ‘burbs together and they pulled up outside the house in a car we had never seen before. “Who’s car is that?” S asked.

“Maybe K had a man stay over and she took his car,” I quipped. P brought the two dogs (hers and K’s) into the house and then we left. On the way to the restaurant, we chatted about the car (it’s a rental while K’s car gets repaired), the week’s events and the fact that P hasn’t noticed that I’ve been wearing make-up for awhile.

We got to the restaurant pretty quickly and S and I exited the car while the girls went in search of parking. We walked inside and were told it’d be about a ten minute wait as the restaurant was busy. We were standing under a vent and the heat was overbearing. K and P joined us a few minutes later and we continued our chat from the car.

Shortly after, we were joined by Christine and T. I asked Christine to show me her hairless arm and she told me about the torturous experiment she attempted on herself yesterday. We somehow got onto the topic of videogame consoles and I mentioned that I had gotten S another CSI game for the Wii since she liked playing one before. “She hasn’t played it yet,” I said.

“That S, she’s so fickle. Hot and cold, hot and cold. It’s a wonder you’re still around,” Christine said to me. I couldn’t help but laugh while making a note to tell us the story later on.

We continued to stand under the searing heat while we waited for a table large enough for a group of six to open up. Finally, a waiter told us that we could head upstairs as another large group was leaving.

While we hung up our coats, K pointed out a restaurant employee who P thinks is cute. “I’m pretty sure he’s not straight,” Christine replied. S and I were both of the opinion that the particular gentleman was a member of our team. When asked for the reason for her opinion, Christine continued, “Look how he wears his jeans, he’s showing off his ass. Gay men wear their jeans like that.”

We had one waiter take our drink orders and then another one came by to take them. We let him know we were taken care of and he asked us if the first guy had told us that they had half-priced mimosas. “I’ll take one!” P spoke up. K and Christine also said they’d have one so the rest of us gave in to the peer pressure and ordered some too.

Breakfast was fantastic as we enjoyed our mimosas and hearty plates of eggs and home fries.

Following breakfast, we invited the girls back to our place for some coffee I’d be making with a French press I recently got from S.

The dogs were a bit excited when we returned. They must’ve had a great ol’ time while we were out too as there was poop on one of the rugs and pee in the back room. When Chrsitne and T arrived, I heard Christine say, “Quick, its not too late for us to leave.” We hadn’t mentioned that the dogs would be at the house so they were a bit surprised when they arrived in the midst of all of the excitement.

I had never used a French press before so I recruited Christine’s help in making the coffee. K and P presented me with not one, but two milk frothers. I warmed up some milk to froth, but no matter how long I spun it, it didn’t foam very much. I don’t know if this was because it was lactose-free milk or because it was 1% milk. We’ll have to look into that.

The coffee turned out a bit weak but it was still pretty tasty. Christine continued to make us laugh with her quick-witted chatter. When I showed her S’s tea press kettle, Christine took it into the living room to show T. “Look at the things they have in this house!” she said.

The conversation was lively as subjects ranged from nipple clamps, vibrating anal beads, one-night stands, domestic violence and office politics. Needless to say, there were a lot of laughs.

At one point, I suggested that S show Christine her Kindle. Christine currently has a Sony E-reader but gets very frustrated at the labourious process involved with purchasing a book online and transferring it to the device.

“T, my birthday is coming up, can you get me a Kindle?” she asked.

“I thought you wanted the tea pot?” I remarked.

“I can get that myself!” Christine replied. I laughed at her enthusiasm.

Not long after the coffee was consumed, the gals announced they’d be on their way. “This was fun, we should get together again soon. As in, all of us,” Christine said. Usually when we get together, it’s just us and Christine and T or us and P and K. It’s not often that we all hang out together.

S and I have spent the rest of the day reading and watching TV. The Grammy’s are on now but S’s focused on what’s on her Kindle’s screen and I’ve been writing this here blog post. I’ve finished Those Who Save Us so will be searching for a new read for my streetcar rides to and from work.

My boss is off tomorrow so it should be a quiet day for me. Although, now that I’ve typed that, I’ve probably jinxed myself.
