This week has been a very slow moving one. This whole being at work, alert and responsive for eight hours is for the birds. I woke up this morning and was like, “damn, it’s only Wednesday.” The day was helped along by lunch with Natalie, Charlie and another gal we like.

I spent a part of my afternoon chasing down a treadmill that is on sale at Canadian Tire this week. I called four stores and none of them had it in stock. Finally, I found a store not far from S’s office that had it. She went to the store and had the run-around when the sales guy refused to sell her the treadmill.

First he told her that they didn’t have any, and then he said she was too tall for the particular machine. Then he tried to convince her she wouldn’t like it because it doesn’t go very fast. Finally, he took her to where the treadmills were and took the one she wanted to the cashier. All the while telling her that if there were any problems with the treadmill, she’d have to go directly to the manufacturer, Canadian Tire would not deal with it.

When S saw the ad online, she thought it said the weight of the machine was 125 pounds. When it was put in the back of the truck today, she realized it was much heavier than that, probably 125 kilgograms which is equal to 275 pounds. Needless to say, S and I weren’t able to lift it out of the truck. S has asked P to come by on Saturday to help us out, so we may be able to put it to use this weekend.

I got some Chapters gift certificates for Christmas and I’m looking for some books to buy. I’ve heard good things about Sarah’s Key and Those Who Save Us. Right now, I’m reading Bel Canto; it took me a while to get into it. I had picked it up twice previously and couldn’t get interested. Yesterday while waiting at the school to register for a course, I opened it up and read more than 5 pages of it. Once I’m done though, I’d like to have some other books to start. Any recommendations, Internets?

Speaking of being at school yesterday, I waited over an hour to register for a course only to find out when I got to the desk that the course had been cancelled. The other course I was interested in taking was at capacity so now I’ll have to wait until March to continue the program. It really isn’t too big a deal, it just means I won’t get my certificate for a few more months. Plus, it will be nice not having to stand out in the cold waiting for a streetcar home later at night from now until March.

Earlier today, I learned that Dexter actor Michael C Hall has been undergoing treatment for cancer. Hopefully, he’ll come through it alright.

Why is it with 700 channels, it’s hard to find something good to watch?

These are all of the observations I wanted to share. Enlightening, wasn’t it?
