A little back story: back in September when S and I went shopping for a winter coat for me, S also bought one for herself. It turned out it was the same as the one I’d gotten.

A few weeks ago, S sent me a message on the BlackBerry letting me know she’d bought a new winter coat. When I asked her why, she said she didn’t like the one she’d bought before.

Forward to yesterday:

We were standing in our living room getting ready to head out to pick up some groceries. We were slowly making our way through the items in our fridge and needed to replenish our supplies.

I put on my coat and ran my hands through my pockets where I found a button that had come off from the front. It was a decorative button and wasn’t one used to tie the coat shut. “Oh, my button,” I said as I took it out of my pocket.

“Yours fell off too?” S asked excitedly.

“Yes,” I said. “Wait, your coat like this one also lost a button?”

“Yep, I couldn’t wear it without the button,” S replied.

“Is that why you’re not wearing it?” I asked.

“No, I just don’t like it,” S said innocently.

I began to shake my head and walk away. S laughed hysterically as we re-hashed the conversation and her logic. There she was saying she couldn’t possibly wear the coat without the  important decorative button, but in truth, she replaced the coat because she didn’t like it.

“Sometimes I feel like I’m in a Seinfeld episode,” I said. We continued to laugh to the point that S had tears in her eyes.

Its’ a good thing she’s cute.
