Toque Head
27 Oct
The Scene: Our main floor in the house.
The day: Thanksgiving Monday.
I was in the kitchen getting dinner going and S was in the main living area, trying on a toque she recently purchased. “I want to wear a toque!” S announced gleefully.
“Huh?” I asked, wondering what she was going on about. In the almost four years we’ve been together, I’ve seen her wear a toque or other wintery type of hat maybe 3-4 times. Even during the coldest winter days, she’ll refuse to wear a toque or hoodie because she doesn’t want to mess up her hair. “You never wear hats,” I reminded her.
“I know, I just thought I could wear it around the house,” she replied, checking herself out in the mirror.
“Right,” I said.
A few days ago, S told me about a conversation with her co-worker where said co-worker told her she’d look cute in a toque. “So I’m going to buy a few more!” she said happily.
“Will you wear them outside?” I asked.
“Probably not! But I want to buy them!”
And there you have it. Cute as a button, but totally weird.

Oh I love wearing hats..but once I wear them I dont take them off cuz my hair is a mess..but I love them..
A few more? And did she look adorable?
hahhah Syd! Strange Brew!
@Syd I thought you were going to say, “what’s a toque?” lol
@Sage I don’t mind messing up my hair by putting on a toque in the winter. If it helps keep my ears and head warm, I’m not going to be fussy about it.
@e She does look adorable in them. But, I may by slightly biased.
This post makes S sound more nuts that she really is!
Did you not hear about the crazy thumbs up in the parking lot situation?
S’s colleague told that story at poker night last week.
