A Night with the ‘berries
Guess who we’re going to see in concert next month?
These folks!

For those of you who have no clue who those people are, I’ll give you a hint. The Cranberries was my favourite band all throughout high school, in fact, “Zombie” was my anthem for the longest time. (I was full of angst, in case you hadn’t figured that out.) I practically wore out the No Need to Argue CD from playing it so much.
I never saw them when I was in high school because I couldn’t afford the tickets. Later on, when I could afford them, the music had changed so much they were no longer a favourite of mine. Then, as is the case with a lot of bands, they decided to call it quits.
That is, until a reunion was announced along with a 19-date North American tour. Tickets went on sale last Saturday for the two Toronto shows. In order to secure tickets, I did another restore on my system so that I could get online and try for tickets for one night while S tried for the other. Of course, P had to make it hard by wanting to come with so we had to try to get three good tickets. Getting two good tickets is easy. But an awkward number like three? It’s a pain in the ass. The kicker of course was that P had spoken to S and told her what seats she would find preferable.
That’s right, even though P’s got a computer and an internet connection of her own, we were buying the tickets. Heaven forbid P actually put any effort in to anything.
The minutes ticked by as we passed up on tickets that were either too far back or too far to one side or another. At one point, tickets were gone for the night S was trying for and so I was left trying to get some before they were all gone too. Eventually, I got three tickets that were about halfway back from the stage and started in the aisle of the right section. Not the best seats, but the best we had come across that morning. Not wanting to lose them, we snatched them up.
I was more than a little miffed to see that TicketBastard charged a $10 convenience fee per ticket. That was $30 just in fees; almost as much as a ticket.
I think S will be a bit disappointed with the seating. After all, the last time she saw the band she saw them at a much smaller venue and she was in the front row. She says she was so close she could see Dolores‘ freckles. We definitely won’t be seeing those from where we’ll be.
I’m looking forward to the show; I think they’ll be great live and I’m sure they’ll be having a fun time now that they’ve rested from touring and are taking a fresh take on it.

@Sage, I don’t think the band’s had a new album in awhile. Dolores just released one this month (or maybe last.) I hope they play their older stuff.
@Syd, what can I say, great minds…
@Christine, yay! It was bound to happen eventually!
