Math Brain Teaser

Earlier today, S sent me an e-mail the body of which was comprised of a brain teaser. It took her about 7 seconds to figure it out. I sat and stared at it for a good five minutes before giving up. In my defense, I’m not good with numbers, never have been.

I’m posting it here in the hopes that I’m not the only one who didn’t figure it out within seconds. Lets see how you fare:

This is a mathematical challenge, and it’s been said that if you’re an engineer you should be able to solve it in 3 minutes, if you’re an architect, in 3 hours, if you’re a doctor, 6 hours, if you’re an accountant, 3 months and if you’re a lawyer????

What is the missing number in this logical series?

1, 2, 6, 42, 1806, ______????
