A bit of a rambling update

23 Jul

I got an e-mail from Ticket Master today letting me know that Metric is coming to town in the fall and tickets are going on sale tomorrow. I sent out an e-mail to my concert-going friends asking if there was any interest, but no one’s replied as of yet. After the Franz Ferdinand shenanigans, I don’t think I’ll be buying tickets for the Metric show.

This weekend’s shaping up to be a busy one for us. I’ll be playing in the softball tournament out in Small-town, Ontario on Saturday. I’ll be staying over at K’s place since she lives close to where we’ll be playing and S will be staying over at P’s place as the pup’s got her annual vet visit on Saturday morning. (The vet’s office is close to P’s place which also happens to be a close driving distance to K’s place.) The plan is to drive out after work tomorrow and get dropped off at K’s.

Tomorrow will be the first time in eons that S and I won’t be spending the night together. I honestly can’t remember the last time we didn’t sleep together. It will be strange, that’s for sure.

I’m looking forward to Saturday. I used to play softball religiously as a kid but stopped after junior high. We’re guaranteed to play three games so I’m guessing the rust will be off by the third game.

We’re having S’s friend Cynthia over for a barbeque on Sunday so it will be a hectic – but fun – weekend.

I haven’t spent too much time on the new web site as I’ve been trying to perfect the business card. A local printer is offering a pretty good deal so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to have some cards printed. I’m my own worst critic; every time I think I’m happy with how something looks (or reads), I start picking at it, trying new things. All I can say is, I’m very happy for the history and snapshot features in PhotoShop.

Our vacation up north is creeping up. I’m hoping the weather gets better by then. This summer’s been cold, wet and pretty miserable. I’m not a fan of humid and muggy days, but waking up to morning’s that feel like September really blow. The fall will be here before we know it, I hope we can get a bit of summer before that happens.

Ok, that’s all for now. I should go clear out my Google Reader. All of those unread items is driving me crazy.

You think you have it rough? My favorite artist tours mostly in Europe. You may be surprised that I have heard of Metric. I enjoy Broken Social Scene. I know this is shocking. Plus my colleague is a big local indie scene guy (and musician) and he talks about who’s hot sometimes. Not often since I often have no idea what he’s talking about. He teases me about my taste in music.

Who is your favourite artist? Who is your colleague talking about these days? (I’m always looking for new musicians to check out.)
