Dear…
Dear Friday,
How I’ve missed you, my dear friend! What have I been up to since we last met? Let me tell you:
Three of the five days at work were spent at training. While both the material and software were interesting, sitting in a darkened room in front of a computer for hours on end gets wearisome. Especially when your boss is there with you and you can’t access your Blackberry and there’s no Internet connection with which to distract yourself. Not checking Gmail, perusing blogs and reading the newest items in my reader feels so foreign to me.
Of course, while I was at training, e-mails continued to make their way into my work account’s inbox. Which means that I’ll be playing catch up for a good while next week. Thankfully, most of the requests aren’t of an urgent nature. Only about 80% of them were requested to be done this week – as in, 5pm today. What’s that, Friday? I can always catch up next week? That would be true were it not for the fact that I’ll be in training two more days and it’s a four day week. So I’ll have even more time away from the office to let work accumulate.
Yes, I know, Friday, I shouldn’t complain. A long weekend is upon us, after all. My plans for the next three days are thus: do very little tomorrow, have a lovely Sunday with our friends who are coming over for a BBQ and head out to the ‘burbs on Monday. In the midst of all of that excitement, I’m going to try to practice my Flash skills – not my Flashing skills – and maybe even pick and install a new blog theme.
My apologies, Friday, if my tone is of a negative nature. See, it really has been a long week. There was a highlight though! At the company’s Town Hall meeting this week, I (along with all of my colleagues) learned that we would indeed be getting bonus’. It just so happened that our fiscal year was well under way when the economy went ka-boom, hence the bonus’. Things next year will be tight though, that much was made clear.
As for that much awaited bonus, it’s been passed on to our handy guy who’s been working on our backyard. Truth be told, that damn Newfie is getting on my nerves. What started as a clean up job – we needed to get rid of the piles and piles of wood chips and saw dust after the tree was taken down – has turned into a much larger job. He’s found other things to fix, add, clean or modify in some way. S and I had said we wanted him to stain the deck and he said he’d do that today. We came home this evening to find he’d spent the day painting the fence, the backroom and the lattice. Not an inch of the deck was stained. He apparently is coming back on Monday to finish. Needless to say, this project has gone over budget and I’m wishing he would hurry the hell up and disappear for while. Yes, Friday, I’m aware that’s part of being a home owner. But a girl is entitled to her opinion, no?
So, I think that’s all I had to say for now, Friday. Write back soon, let me know how things are going with you.
Wearily Yours,
liz

I feel ya on the home improvement front.
The guy we hired to replace the back porch and windows, ended up also doing roof repairs and air conditioning work. WAY over budget.
Funny how a small, straight forward job turns into something much bigger very quickly.
As for the e-mails, don’t be silly. Fun e-mails to my personal accounts are fine, they give me something to look forward to. Its the other shit that’s piling up that’s annoying! LOL
Oh, and I’ll ease up on your inbox (ooooh, sounds so dirty). Sorry for bombarding your email. hehe
