For the Birds
Strange how someone decides to kill themselves by walking in front of a GO Train during morning rush hour and that ends up affecting my ability to get my transit pass back. My boss and I were scheduled to take part in an all day training session today. I had planned to meet up with P during lunch to get the pass back so that I’d have it for the commute home.
The guy who was leading the training ended up being late because of the delays caused by the suicide and so we took a shorter lunch to make up for the time. The shorter lunch meant I wouldn’t have time to meet up with P. I gave her a call to let her know about the shortened lunch and she let me know that she wouldn’t be able to meet after work because she had to get to her dragon boating practice.
The new plan is for me to meet P at her office first thing tomorrow morning on my way in to work. I hope there aren’t any other suicides that will affect her commute – or mine. This having to pay a cash fare business is for the birds.

Inconsiderate fuckers. Don’t you guys have guns or drugs or something?
It really comes down to being inconsiderate. These people decide to end their lives but feel the need to do it by walking in front of a train or jumping off of a bridge into traffic, not realizing the impact it has on the people involved. I don’t mean the passengers on the trains who were delayed by the drivers of the trains who can’t help but watch as they kill someone.
And yes, there are tons of guns and drugs available. Which is why I get so pissed when I hear about suicides on transit.
