Pot Shopper

I remember the days when Christmas was about being together with family and friends and basking in our time together. Whatever gifts were received were a surprise and were appreciated. Now? Some of the folks on my list, namely my brother and his girlfriend, seem to think they should tell me exactly what it is they want for Christmas.
Last year, they requested a food saver. My brother up and called me one day and said that’s what they wanted. It was more than I wanted to spend on them but I waited until it was on sale and bought it at a lower price – but still more than what I’d intended to spend. This year I asked what they wanted thinking they’d give me a few items and I could pick one. Experience should have taught me better.
This year they wanted a 10 piece set of Rachael Ray cookware for $150. I was livid when I found out the price. I happen to think asking for specific gifts is in bad taste, especially when the item you’re asking for is pricey.
