Marriage Under Criticism
24 Nov
S and I have continued watching as much HGTV as we can handle. The programming schedule has changed some, as have our own schedules, but our television is always set to HGTV. While I enjoy most of the shows on the channel, the participants on one show annoy me to no end. Ed and Gillian from Marriage Under Construction were cute when the show began. Now they irritate my bowels.
They’re a married couple who were looking to buy their own home and completely renovate it. I thought they were cute at first, but they have continued to grate on my nerves with each passing week. They don’t appreciate any of the help that they’re getting, at least one of them is always in a mood and they have the audacity to be critical of all of the work being done on their behalf.
A few weeks ago, Ed was throwing a hissy fit because he didn’t like the runner the designer had selected for their stairs. He sulked around and then insulted the designer’s taste and efforts. I can’t even handle seeing them on the screen anymore, just watching their commercial is enough to make me start grinding my teeth.
If we had the help that they did, I’d be the most thankful and appreciative person on the planet. I would love not having to call around and get quotes from different people for the different things the house needs. I wouldn’t care if it meant having a camera crew follow us around. Ed and Gillian seem to spend more time “getting away” at spas and what not then they do in their home.
I wish I could go away for a days rest and know that other folks were working on my house for me. I hope the show gets cancelled and Ed and Gillian are forced to do things on their own. That’d wipe that stupid grin from Ed’s face.

They were also on ‘Til Debt Do Us Part and Maxed Out. Hopefully they’ve run out reality shows so we don’t have to see them anymore.
They were on other shows? G’lord, who keeps giving those idiots air time?
I know someone who lives on their street and apparently they saw a lot of stuff and it seemed it was done for the camera and fake. Someone went in their house and said the workmanship looked terrible and they had to do each scene five times and were told what to do/say for every episode. They said the couple were breaking down at times because it was hard for the individuals to be told what to say and the house didn’t look good in person.
My friend told me she saw the husband working all the tiem at his regular job and then come home to millions of the crew feeding him what to say outside. from what i heard she felt sorry for them really seeing what was happennig. she said the camera people would walk into their house all the time with keys and i’m fairly sure the coupl;e lived there. she had a lot of good stories from what she witnessed and said nothing is what it seems … makes you wonder abot these shows.
Still, they act like a bunch of petulant, ungrateful children. And another commenter said that they’ve been on two previous shows so they must be used to having a camera crew following them around by now.
I saw this couple on the other shows too and watch the hgtv show because I found them at least entertaining/cute clothes/good looking. Same with the contractor and designer – I have seen here model before and he has 0 personality.
Here’s what I don’t get though, they were on previous shows, yet they signed up for another. It seems to me like they like being in the spotlight.
Regardless, they’re annoying as hell. I watched a handful of episodes and then I had to stop. Just that part of the commercial where we can hear Gill saying, “its awful” in that shrill voice of hers makes me want to poke my ear drums with q-tips.
Well I’m sure they like the spot light or why would they do a season of shows like this? Any one on t.v likes the spot light. I don’t let shows make me want to poke my ear drums out lol or anything for that matter so may be these negative blogs are not for me.
the best to you all.
I don’t really think I’d call this a negative blog, but everyone’s entitled to their opinion.
