And now I present two cases of What the fuck?!

Case 1: The brilliant folks at PETA tried to run an ad in a WInnipeg newspaper which basically compared the decapitation of Tim McLean on the Greyhound bus with the plight of animals who are raised for human consumption. I don’t honestly think that PETA wanted to place the ad, they just wanted to create a frenzy and draw attention to themselves. Still, the mere idea of running an ad like that at any time is extremely ignorant and in poor taste. But to try it a mere weekafter the incident on the bus is just callous. I am all for animal rights, but I think groups like PETA have grown into nothing more than obsessed nutcases.

Case 2: Members of the Westboro Baptist Church are planning on picketing Tim McLean’s funeral. These are the same folks who picket the funerals of American soliders killed in Iraq and those of AIDS victims. They feel that tragedies like that of what happened on the Greyhound bus is God’s way of punishing countries who have liberal views on homosexuality and abortion. A group of the protesters were turned away at the border this week, but others who didn’t have their material with them were able to get into the country. (They mailed their material ahead of time.) I really hope the residents of Winnipeg who have promised a counter-protest show up and beat the shit out of those crazy Baptist fuckers.
