Last year, through the power that is Facebook, S was able to reconnect with one of her good friends from high school. Let’s call said friend, E. E went to high school with my lovely and was her roommate for a while after graduation. The gals lost touch when they no longer lived together but got back in touch last summer through Facecrack.

I first met E and her teddy bear of a husband, G, a few weeks after S went over for tea. I can’t say enough how much I like them both. E has the coolest “fuck you” attitude; she’s very funny and tells it like it is. Her husband is a total sweetheart, very soft spoken (or maybe he’s just sleepy all of the time ha!) and easy going.

A few weeks ago we (S and I) went down to spend the Saturday with E. While there, we met the sweetest dog ever, Sadie. She’s a 12 year old Lab cross and has the softest face. She greeted us with a few barks as we pulled into the drive but quickly warmed up to us. (S giving her some pita buns surely helped the situation.) It was a bit weird petting Sadie because of her size. She’s ten times the size of the little head and petting her just seemed so magnified in comparison.

We also got a tour of E’s house, which has a beautiful backyard (complete with a pond) and the best feature ever: no neighbours! (The closest neighbour is a five minute drive away.) I asked E which room was mine and funny enough, she had one to spare.

Unfortunately, the day we were there was quite rainy out so we didn’t get a chance to go for a walk through the woods. We did get to rifle through S and E’s old high school year book though. It was cute to see the gals flip through the pages and talk about their former classmates. “Remember him?” one would say while pointing at a picture. “He was such a loser!” “I dated him for awhile!” another would chime in. What was really cute was S telling E the girls she thought were hot back then. “Really?” would be E’s reply.

The funniest part of the afternoon would have to have been E telling G to stop flicking his toes. He’d stop for a few minutes and then start up again. “G!” E would say. “Stop it!” It was funny watching their exchange. I wonder if S and I will be that cute. Oh, what am I saying?! We’re that cute now! (Well, she is, anyway.)

We closed out the evening with a drive around the area and a nice, delicious meal. I even tried some of S’s calamari.

We don’t see E and G as often as we’d like because we live a good distance away from each other. But! E did say she was coming to town for Pride this year. Me thinks it’s safe to say it’ll be a gay ol’ time.
