Two sides to the coin

I really like my job; which is a pretty awesome thing to be able to say after the fiasco of the last place I worked at. That place was a total joke, hence why I was only there for 8 months.

The new gig is great; I’m doing web work  which is awesome, but I’m also getting to work on print design, email blasts, newsletters and lots of other projects. My days are pretty varied and I haven’t really had the chance yet to feel bored or unchallenged.

Perfect Little Hiding Spot

My cat is crazy. This has been evidenced by her bursting open her stitches after being spayed and how she runs around without any care about crashing into walls and other objects. What makes her the craziest though (to me, anyway) is her knack to find the perfect hiding spot.

This past weekend, I was busying myself painting and organizing the room that I will be using as an office. I was moving boxes and small pieces of furniture around and I didn’t really notice what Sophie was up to. A couple of hours went by and I finally noticed that I hadn’t seen her in awhile so I went off in search of her.

Another Chapter Nears it’s Close

It’s been over 24 hours that I’ve officially no longer been a home owner. It’s been a strange couple of days’ and as it’s been the case the last few months, I am drained. Of course, not even the simple act of closing on the house was simple for us.

S and I went to our lawyer’s office the day before the close to hand in the keys to the house and sign off on all of the required paperwork. That was easy enough. We had one issue we wanted our lawyer’s advice on. The close date was very close to garbage day and the bins were full of things from us having cleared out of the house. The organic bin was especially full. We felt that the new owners should know so that they could go to the house and have the trash taken out so that they weren’t stuck with full bins for a week.

Our lawyer suggested we get our realtor to relay the message on to the owners. S fired off an email to that effect and we figured that was that. We were wrong.

A Place to Call Home

I’ve been in the apartment a few weeks now and it’s slowly starting to feel like more than just a place to crash. I had planned to spend Labour Day weekend painting, but of course, the best laid plans never really work out like you hope to. It was so hot and humid that entire weekend, it felt more like July than September. I knew it would’ve been pointless to paint because it wouldn’t have gone on properly or dried very well.

So I spent the first week of the month cleaning and organizing the kitchen. One of the things I wanted to tackle first was dressing the windows. There aren’t any buildings close by so it’s not so much a privacy issue. More like wanting to have the windows look nice and keep the sun out a bit. Welcome Mat

It’s an older building and the curtain rods that are installed are pretty old school. Such that I hadn’t the foggiest clue how to put curtains up on them. My friend Natalie was familiar with them and told me they would require some rollers and hooks that went onto the back of the fabric. I just looked at her blankly.

Stay Tuned

I’ve neglected this poor blog of late. But, I have very valid reasons for doing so. The new job and moving into the apartment have kept me busy. So much so that by the time I am done puttering around at the end of the day, all I want to do is crash. So, stay tuned. There’ll be some real blog posts on here soon enough.
